V.K. Sasikala’s properties worth Rs 100 crore seized in Chennai

New Delhi: The IT (Income Tax) Department has attached 3.52 acres of land owned by VK Sasikala under provisions of Benami (non-declared) Property Transaction Act. The property located in Payyanur village in Chengalpattu district near Chennai has been attached as the department felt it belongs to AIADMK’s V.K. Sasikala. The property is estimated to worth around Rs 100 crores.

After Seizure, Sasikala is now prohibited from transferring rights of Property. Sasikala was once a close aide of late CM Jayalalithaa. Some of this land belonged to famous south music director Gangai Amaran who deposed that the property and the rights were taken forcefully.

Most of Properties seized by IT Dept are from 1996-2004. A copy of the IT Department property attachment order has been issued to Jayalalithaa’s nephew and niece Deepak and Deepa, who are also legal entities in case.

Last year, IT department attached properties of Sasikala and her relatives in the case. In 2017, the IT Department raided about 187 properties which were rumored to be linked to Sasikala and her relatives and unearthed tax evasion of about Rs 1,430 crore. More than the estimated budget of a Normal Flyover.
