Quarrel lashes between 2 groups after teen makes fun of friend’s skull cap, eight arrested

New Delhi: Police booked eight people in Bagalkot district, Karnataka after clashes broke out within two religious groups in Ilkal town. The aggressive clash occurred after a 15-year-old boy mocked his friend for wearing a skull cap.

According to the reports, the kid who was teased went back and told his other friends about the incident. The group assaulted the boy who mocked their friend and slapped him. The teenager who was slapped retaliated by complaining to his friends in a Hindu-based organisation about being attacked, following the incident they assaulted the boy who wore the skull cap.

Members from two different communities got seriously involved along with the family of two teenagers.

In a series of fights, police have registered two FIRs, one from both sides, and detained eight people regarding the incident.

“The kids are from the same gated community. Now the families have come forward to say that they will compromise and don’t want to pursue a police case. We have arrested eight people. There are no serious injuries to anyone,” a senior police officer said.
