UAPA over students who backed Pakistan in Srinagar during T20 Match

New Delhi: Nationwide actions by state police are seen over supporting Pakistan in the T20 World Cup. The Srinagar police have booked medical students in Srinagar under anti-terror laws, more than 6 people were detained in the Jammu region. Whereas, an FIR was lodged against 3 engineering students from the Valley at Agra. The students were rusticated at the same time.
On Sunday, Pakistan defeated India after 3 decades in the T-20 World Cup. The match coincided with Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Kashmir, Shah made several statements reaching out to the youth of the Valley during his four-day visit.
The Srinagar police have filed FIRs under sections of the UAPA against unnamed women hostel students of Government Medical College (GMC) and students of Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) after videos of ‘celebrations’ went viral on social media. 
PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti condemned the State Police action. She tweeted, “Home Minister did Mann ki Baat with Kashmiri youth. Now they have started slapping UAPA against medical students for celebrating Pakistan’s win.”
The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association have urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to immediately withdraw UAPA charges. Citing that this is harsh behavior.
