New Delhi: Uttarakhand Char Dham Devasthanam Management Board informed that the Kedarnath and Yamunotri portals will be closing for winter on October 6 and will remain closed for the next six months.
The four ancient pilgrimage circuits in Uttarakhand; Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath are symbolized as ‘Char Dham Yatra’.
The portal of Badrinath Temple will be shut on November 20, officials stated.
The religious ceremony for closing the gates of Kedarnath is performed today, a palanquin will be leaving Kedarnath Temple for Ukhimath Omkareshwar Temple. In the same way a palanquin of Goddess Yamuna will be leaving for Kharsali village near Janki Chatti.
A large number of pilgrims presented to witness the divine ceremony of the closing of the Gangotri shrine’s portal on Friday morning. The palanquin, Utsav Doli of Goddess Ganga left for Mukhba and will be reaching there today on the special occasion of Bhai dooj.
Mayur Dixit, District Magistrate of Uttarkashi informed in an official statement that more than 32,948 devotees visited Gangotri Dham during this year.
