New Delhi: Four CRPF personnel were shot dead and three others injured after one of their colleagues opens fire with AK-47 rifle in a paramilitary force camp in Sukma district, Chhattisgarh on Monday, police official stated.
The incident happened in the camp of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Linganpalli village at around 3:15 AM, Sundarraj P, Inspector General of Police, Bastar range stated.
According to sources, Constable Reetesh Ranjan shot at his colleagues with an AK-47 service weapon. The seven victims were rushed to a hospital in Bhadrachalam region where doctors proclaimed four of them dead.
The identities of the deceased constables were Dharmendra Kumar, Rajmani Kumar Yadav, Dhanji and Rajib Mondal, an official stated, adding that the three injured personnel were being treated.
“The motive behind the firing is yet to be ascertained and an investigation is on into the incident,” the official cited.
Constable Reetesh Ranjan was arrested on the spot and being interrogated, he added.
