HC Rejects CBI’s Demand for inspecting Karti Chidambaram Documents

New Delhi: on 10th November, The Delhi High Court rejected an appeal filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against the order allowing inspection of documents of Karti Chidambaram, Son of P Chidambaram, and other accused in the INX media case.
The CBI had challenged the order by the trial court allowing inspection of documents kept in ‘Malkhana’ (room keeping case properties) by the accused and his counsel.
According to the investigating agency, the trial court order of 5th march will allow intrusion into CBI’s investigative process. If they continue checking, this will subvert the probe and may tamper with the pieces of evidence.
The CBI registered its case on May 15, 2017, when an FIR was registered in 2017 related to the matter. The FIR alleged irregularities in a Foreign Investment Promotion Board clearance granted to INX Media group. During which INX received overseas funds of INR 305 crores in 2007. Chidambaram was Finance Minister in 2007, During UPA Tenure.
