New Delhi: As the Heavy rains in Chennai start slowing, several parts of the city are still waterlogged. Chief Minister M K Stalin has questioned the former AIADMK government on the use of money from the Centre’s Smart City scheme. He also said that his government will start a probe soon on SP Velumani, AIDMK leader and in charge of Municipal Administration in the previous government.
Stalin further added and asked citizens to be calm, “The waterlogging issue is almost under control, we are resolving every issue now. There were several crores collected by the AIDMK government for Smart City Scheme. And we have no idea or data about what they have done with that money.”
Velumani was known as the ‘Chief Minister of Coimbatore’. Stalin’s remarks have come after the Madras High Court directed the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) to probe serious charges of corruption against the Velumani and submit a report within 2 months.
Whereas, The IMD has warned of Rains to continue with halts at least for another 3-4 days as Another Depression is heading towards the north of Chennai. A red alert has been issued for the next 24 hours.
