Khurshid’s ‘Hindutva’ statement puts Congress Party in Trouble

In the book, Salman equated the Hindutva group with the Islamic State and Boko Haram of Nigeria in terms of Extremism. The party seems to be running away from the conversation over the remark and are either saying “factually wrong” or an “exaggeration” of the issue.

Congress leader Salman Khurshid’s latest remark on Hindutva in his book has pushed congress into trouble ahead of crucial elections early next year.

Salman Khurshid’s latest book got published. In the book, Salman equated the Hindutva group with the Islamic State and Boko Haram of Nigeria in terms of Extremism. The party seems to be running away from the conversation over the remark and are either saying “factually wrong” or an “exaggeration” of the issue.

The book titled Sunrise over Ayodhya explored in detail the Babri Masjid-Ram Janambhoomi issue and its impact. The orders and sentiments behind the order were discussed by Salman Khurshid. He adds, “Sanatan dharma and classical Hinduism known to sages and saints was pushed aside by a robust version known as Hindutva, similar to the jihadist Islam of groups like ISIS and Boko Haram of recent years in all standard”

The BJP has called it an insult to Hindus and the core followers of its ideology. The BJP asked Congress president Sonia Gandhi. Will she ever break her silence and tell “whether her party considers Hindus as fundamentalists”. BJP also demanded immediate sacking of Salman Khurshid from Congress.
Congress has been known to be gone into controversy with the tag ‘Hindus’. Salman Khurshid once condemned Batla House Encounter. Whereas, Digvijay Singh and P Chidambaram have mentioned the community as terrorists.
