New Delhi: Telangana State’s ruling party TRS on 12th November protested against centres policy of paddy procurement. The TRS demanded that the Central government should procure the entire Kharif paddy produced in the state and also alleged that the centre provides an advantage to Punjab.
The protests started as FCI (Food Corporation of India) decided to buy only 60 lakh tonnes of paddy from Telangana, the State government wanted the Centre to procure entire 1.3 crore tonnes of paddy in Kharif Season. TRS has called it an insult to Telangana leaders.
The protests were led by TRS working president and IT minister KT Rama Rao who carried dharna in Sircilla, while Finance Minister T Harish Rao staged a protest in Siddipet. Panchayat Raj minister E Dayakar Rao participated in Warangal. Whereas, Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar participated in the dharna organised in Khammam.
The TRS seems to have realised BJP and Centre as a real enemy as the Hyderabad GHMC result and Huzurabad by-polls results have jolted TRS and provided gains to BJP. Such protests are predicted to happen in future too.
