Neeraj Chopra Receives ‘Khel Ratna Award’

Tokyo Olympics gold medal winner in javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, along with eleven other athletes, received the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna award from President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.

New Delhi: On 13th November, Renowned Tokyo Olympics gold medal winner in javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, along with eleven other athletes, received the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna award from President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.
The 23-year-old Athlete won the historic track-and-field gold medal with a record throw of 87.58m in the javelin finals. He became the second Individual to bring Gold after Abhinav Bindra. 

Apart from Neeraj, Silver Medal winner wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya, bronze-winning pugilist Lovlina Borgohain, cricketer Mithali Raj, hockey players PR Sreejesh and Manpreet Singh and footballer Sunil Chhetri also received the prestigious award from President.

Whereas, in Life-Time Category, the Dronacharya Award went to TP Ouseph, Sarkar Talwar, Sarpal Singh, Tapan Kumar, and Ashan Kumar. Dronacharya Award in the regular category, Radhakrishnan Nair P, Sandhya Gurung, Pritam Siwach, Jai Prakash Nautiyal, and Subramanian Raman bagged the award.

The ministry of youth affairs and sports announced the National Sports Awards on 2nd November. National Sports Awards are given every year to recognize and reward excellence in sports.
