New Delhi: The Union Railway Ministry has decided to restore services at pre-pandemic levels. According to an official presser, The Passenger train services will be restored to pre-Covid levels by December End. According to Indian Railways, these operations will be restarted in a graded manner. The Railways were running special trains during the first lockdown period and till now.
More than 1768+ emails and express will be restored within the next few days. Whereas, “special” trains with additional charges. charging 30% more than original will revert to original with pre-pandemic fares. According to media reports. reverting to regular fares will impact revenues worth around Rs 200 crore per month. Which govt. was earning.
This is for the first time since the lockdown enforced on 25th March 2020 stopped Indian Railways completely. However, 15 pairs of all-AC Special Rajdhani trains were restored at 50% capacity on May 12, 2020. Since then, services have been restored graded and are nearly back to pre-Covid levels. At present, 1744 trains are functional.
However, The Covid appropriate behavior is still enforced and will continue after the restoration of the services.
