A senior police officer in Srinagar helped an old local vendor in the city, who was robbed of his life savings, those who had kept for his funeral and it is a rare heartwarming gesture.

On Saturday, a roadside ‘channa’ seller, named Abdul Rehman aged 90, was robbed by the ruffians. Rehman was beaten up by the ruffians, who lives alone and the money that was stolen, he kept it with him in the fear of forgetting where he put it. The total amount of money was about Rs. 1 lakh.

Senior Superintendent of police, Sandeep Chaudhary decided to step in and help the elderly man Rehman. The police officer gave Rehman the amount of 1 lakh from his own savings.

Police have registered a case and the investigation is in the process. The sources said that top police officers, including the SSP, is also tracking the progress of investigations.

Meanwhile, this kind gesture was highly appreciated on social media. The Chairman of Peoples Conference, Sajad Lone tweeted, “The gesture of a police officer paying a robbed, old man from pocket is a unique and a noble gesture. Great work. @Sandeep_IPS_JKP.”

This police officer is known to help a lot of people and we need more people like him.
