New Delhi: According to The Rajya Sabha Secretariat, The Vice President of India never attends ceremonies organized in the memory of political leaders in the Central Hall of Parliament as a matter of convention.
The statement came a day after news that Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu avoided attending a ceremony held on 14th November on the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. The ceremony was organized in Central Hall.
The Secretary added, “There are misleading reports. And it has caused deep distress to the vice president, He was out of Delhi on Sunday yet he paid tributes to PM Nehru”
Opposition Parties, especially Congress questioned the intentions of the BJP government as vice president Naidu and Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla didn’t attend the convention at the Central Hall.
