On 16th November 2021, PM Modi attended the first-ever “Audit Diwas” marking the importance of Audits and Data by CAG. During the event, PM Modi discussed the importance of data. He stated Data will dictate history in the future.
The PM was addressing the first-ever Audit Diwas, an event organized by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) in New Delhi. During the event, PM said, “Back in time, information was transmitted through stories, history was written through stories. But in the 21st century, data is information and in the coming times, our history will also be seen and understood through data. In future, data will be dictating the history.”

He quoted, that the government has derived methods to ensure minimum interference such as contactless customs, automatic renewals, faceless assessments, and online applications for service delivery which will be calculated by CAG.

Appreciating the work of the CAG, PM said, “Earlier, there was a Govt. vs. CAG mindset. Now, we make systematic improvements with the help of whatever you (CAG) tell us, we see it as cooperation. Because of you loopholes and backlogs are solved. Due to the lack of transparency, various practices used to take place in the banking sector, and NPAs (Non-performing assets) kept increasing. ” Now, Fixing is done, thanks!!” PM added.
