ECI reviewing Amrinder’s Punjab Lok Congress (PLC) Application

The news has erupted days after former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh resigned from the Congress and announced that he would launch a political party under the name Punjab Lok Congress (PLC).

New Delhi:  According to strong media reports, The Election Commission has received an application from an association seeking to register itself as a political party with the name of Punjab Lok Congress, this body is probably of Capt. Amrinder Singh.
The news has erupted days after former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh resigned from the Congress and announced that he would launch a political party under the name Punjab Lok Congress (PLC). 
According to the report, “An application for registration as a political party under section 29A of Representation of the People Act, from an association wanting to be registered as a political party under name of Punjab Lok Congress party, has been received in the ECI.” a source in the Commission said without mentioning his identity. The application is under process. 
Earlier this September, A high voltage political scenario erupted in Punjab. Capt. Amrinder Singh resigned from the CM post and his party i.e. Congress. He accused party president Sonia Gandhi, and senior leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra of hatching a “midnight conspiracy” to oust him down in Punjab.
Whereas, Punjab Congress clarified Singh was blocking the way for a new leader. The 79-year-old leader had timed his bitter resignation letter with the announcement on the name of his new party. Capt. May ally with BJP in the upcoming election.
