New Delhi: Lord Ayyappa’s Sabarimala temple has been reopened on Monday for the two-month pilgrimage season. The season of Mandalam-Makaravilakku starts on the opening day of Malayam month Vrischikam on Tuesday.

Melasanthi Jayaraj Potti opened the sreekovil around 5:30 PM in the presence of Thantri Mahesh Mohanaru. Although the devotees who have arrived at Nilackal pilgrim transit centre having virtual passes will be allowed to have darshan at Lord Ayyappa Temple, stated chief police coordinator of Sabarimala ADGP S Sreejith. 30,000 devotees registered for passes through virtual queue system, however, only 8,000 made confirmation of their arrival on the first day of the season, he added.
