Orissa: CBI team attacked in a raid of child pornography

In Dhenkanal district in Orissa on Tuesday, a CBI team of five members was attacked by some furious locals for an hour or so when they raided a suspected house for a child pornography case.

The police team received information about the incident and reached the spot, tried to rescue the CBI officials but some women and youths carrying lathi stopped them.

Sandeep Kumar, CBI inspector in Delhi was leading the central probe agency team and formed a team of officers from Kolkata and Bhubaneshwar.

The suspect’s house was in the Jadupati Vihar area, the CBI officials reached there and interrogated the suspect for long hours in the Dhenkanal Town police station area.

While the interrogation continued for over 6 hours, the local people started attacking the CBI team members and tried to rescue the suspect.

The staff of the Dhenkanal Town police station reached the spot after they got the information of the attack and successfully rescued the CBI team while they were facing resistance from some women and young boys.

A member of the CBI team informed that the suspect was posting disgusting and offensive pictures of children on pornographic sites.

The investigating agency has taken the suspect’s mobile phone and other things from his house.

He was suspected to be working for some pornographic sites, the team member said.
“I was only sharing the links of adult content from one website to other sites and groups. I had received 21 USD (Rs 2000 approximately),” he confessed.

The central agency has filed 23 separate cases on November 14 against 83 people, involved in online child sexual abuse and exploitation.
