New Delhi: On 19th November, President Joe Biden transferred power to Vice President Kamala Harris as he was under anesthesia for a routine colonoscopy. This led Kamala Harris becoming the first woman to hold presidential power in US history.
The US president Joe Biden is undergoing an annual physical checkup at the Walter Reed military hospital outside of Washington. In 2020, Kamala Harris became the first woman to serve as vice president of the United States. No woman has ever been president in the US for nearly 250-year history.
Biden celebrated his 79th Birthday on Saturday, he is the oldest person to take office as US president. President Biden has pledged to be more transparent about his health than predecessor Donald Trump. The Republican visited Walter Reed in 2019 for an undisclosed reason that a former press secretary, Stephanie Grisham, later revealed was for a colonoscopy.
According to media reports, Biden’s body mass index classified him as slightly overweight, but his cholesterol was under control. Dr. O’Connor, who treated Biden said, is prescribed the anticoagulant Eliquis, the statin Crestor and the seasonal allergy spray Dymista.
During Mr. Biden’s last physical exam, doctors found the former vice president to be “healthy, vigorous” and “fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency,” according to a doctor’s report at the time.
