New Delhi: Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) minister Anil Bonde, who was recently arrested in communal violence in Amravati and later released on bail. Says, No riots were there when BJP was in power.
He further alleged that the riots occur when the secular or left government is in power and a large section of the Minority community is involved in illegal activities and later that money is being used for rioting.
The former minister was speaking in Twitter Space. In the space video shared by Ruling NCP leader, Nawab Malik. Bonde said, “Gujarat saw no riots post-Godhra riots. In Ahmedabad, there were riots every year. However, no riots were reported ever since the Modi government came to power (in Gujarat), in the past 10-15 years.”
He added, similarly, “Even in Yogi Ji’s government (in Uttar Pradesh) there were no riots reported. Similarly, no communal riot was reported in the five years of Devendra Fadnavis government (in Maharashtra)”.
He clarified, “But, you see whenever a secular or left government comes in power the extremists dare to do such activities because they know they have some protection from their leaders.”
Dr. Anil Bonde was arrested by Amravati police on Monday after violence over the weekend, in Amravati. Few local leaders of BJP were also arrested. However, he was released on bail by a local court the same day.
