New Delhi: A hand grenade blast took place in Punjab’s Pathankot Army cantonment area on Sunday. No causalities due to the incident recorded, police stated underlining the issue on Monday.
The grenade was tossed by an assailant on a motorcycle near Triveni Gate of the Cantt area at 9 PM, by which an alert was made in the district and a search operation has been carried out.
“The hand grenade attack took place close to 9 p.m. on Sunday night near the Triveni gate of the Army’s cantonment. There has been no casualty. We are screening the CCTV images. So far, no arrest has been made and investigations are underway,” Senior Superintendent of Police Surinder Lamba stated.
Lamba also said that no place would be left to search and the security has been tightened in Pathankot and its neighbouring regions to trace the assailants.
The district shares border with Pakistan, which had seen a terror attack in January 2016, when a heavily armed terrorist group sneaked in through the border and attacked the airbase of Pathankot. In 2015, a police station was also targeted in Dinanagar by the terrorists
