New Delhi: After objection from commuters and Hindu Seer groups. The Indian Railways changed the uniform of serving staff in Ramayan Express to Shirt Pant and Gloves. The uniform earlier was an Orange Saint Kurta, dhoti along with Pagdi.

The objection uproared when Hindu seers from Ujjain declared the saffron uniform as an insult to the Hindu religion and threatened to block the train in Delhi on December 12 if it is not changed before.

Ujjain Akhada Parishad’s former general secretary Avdeshpuri said, “serving commuters in a saffron attire with a sadhu-like headgear and wearing malas (necklaces) of rudraksha is an insult to the Hindu religion and its seers, It is not accepted”

He added, “I along with others will stop the train at Delhi’s Safdarjung railway station if the saffron dress code of the waiters is not changed within time”.

As the dress changed, The IRCTC deferred itself from getting into a debate. In a statement, IRCTC said, “It is to hereby inform that the dress of service staff is completely changed in the look of professional attire of service staff. Inconvenience caused is regretted.”
