Covishield, Covaxin recognised by 96 countries

These 96 countries include the US, Australia, Canada, UK, Spain, Germany, France, Russia, Switzerland and Belgium.

New Delhi: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya stated that 96 countries have acknowledged Covishield and Covaxin. Both the Covid-19 vaccinations have obtained emergency use listing (EUL) from the World Health Organisation (WHO).

“WHO has included eight vaccines in EUL so far. We are happy two out of these are Indian vaccines — Covaxin and Covishield. Ninety-six countries of the world have recognised both these vaccines,” Mandaviya stated.

These 96 countries include the US, Australia, Canada, UK, Spain, Germany, France, Russia, Switzerland and Belgium.

The Health Minister cited that so far over 109 crores of Covid-19 vaccination has been administered in India.

The minister also added that under “Har Ghar Dastak” vaccination campaign, “Healthcare workers are going to all houses to carry out the vaccination drive.”

Mandaviya claimed that the health ministry alongside foreign ministry is in constant communication with all the nations for mutual recognition of Covid-19 vaccine recognition for easing travel, business, tourism and education.
