COVID19: India registered 8,318 fresh cases, 21% lower than previous day

recovery rate is 98.34%, recorded highest since March 2020.


New Delhi: India registered 8,318 fresh Covid-19 cases today, comparatively 21% lower than the previous day, taking India’s total cases since the Covid outbreak to 3,45,63,749, stated the health ministry data of today.

The nation also registered 465 new deaths, taking the toll to 4,67,933.

In the last 24 hours, 10,967 coronavirus recoveries have been reported, making total recoveries to 3,39,88,797. In India, the recovery rate is 98.34%, recorded highest since March 2020.

 The rise of fresh Covid-19 cases has remained below 20,000 for straight 50 days and for 153 consecutive days the new cases have been less than 50,000.

The Union health ministry has administered over 121.06 crore vaccines under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.

Currently, a new Covid-19 variant named Omicron- “most heavily mutated version”- concerning World Health Organisation (WHO), found first in South Africa has made several countries worried including US, UK, Singapore, Germany, Canada, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and France which are imposing travel bans on several southern African countries.
