New Delhi: The Parliament suspended 12 opposition MPs for the whole Winter Session for violent and inappropriate behavior during the Monsoon session. The major names in the list include Shiv Sena’s Priyanka Chaturvedi and Anil Desai, Trinamool Congress’s Dola Sen, and Shanta Chhetri CPM’s Elamaram Kareem, and six other Congress leaders.
The parliament noted “unprecedented acts of misconduct, contemptuous, violent and unruly behavior and intentional attacks on the security personnel on the last day of the Monsoon session as a major reason for suspension.
Suspended MP Ripun Bora attacked center on suspension. Saying, “This is totally undemocratic; the murder of democracy & Constitution. We’ve not been given the opportunity to be heard. This is a one-sided, biased, vindictive decision. Opposition parties haven’t been consulted first”
Shiv Sena leader, Priyanka Chaturvedi also attacked the center on her suspension. She said, “From Dist Court to Supreme Court, an accused is heard even there, lawyers are provided for them too, sometimes Govt officials are sent to take their version. Here our version wasn’t taken.”
After which, Opposition parties are to meet tomorrow morning over the suspension of 12 MPs in the Rajya Sabha. A joint statement, signed by leaders of the Opposition parties, will be issued shortly.
