Pakistan to take ‘legal action’ after model’s bare-headed pics at Kartarpur Sahib went viral

New Delhi: Massive outrage erupted on social media after a Pakistani fashion brand Mannat clothing uploaded pictures on its social media handles of a model wearing a suit without a headscarf or a ‘chunni’ at Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara.

The Gurdwara in Pakistan is a sacred site for Sikhs and the visitors are required to keep their heads covered.

Responding to the outburst, the Punjab province of Pakistan government stated that a probe has been ordered and “strict legal action will be taken against those responsible”. The CM Usman Buzdar has asked for a full report on the issue.

The Government of Punjab wrote via Twitter, “CM Punjab Usman Buzdar has taken strict notice of the incident at Kartarpur’s gurdwara and asked for a complete report from the chief secretary. A thorough inquiry will be done on this incident. CM Punjab reiterated that all religions are respected in Pakistan.”

Underlining the issue, Punjab Police tweeted, “Punjab Police are investigating all aspects related to this incident and strict legal action will be taken against responsible. Management of concerned brands and models are being investigated. Worship places of all religions are equally respectable.”
