International Flights to not get resumed as “Omicron Scares”

New Delhi: It seems international resumption of flights by India may get delayed again as ‘Omicron’ variant concern has arisen. The International flights were supposed to be resumed on 15th December.
On 1st December an order by DGCA was issued in which it said, “In view of the evolving global scenario with the emergence of new variants of concern, the situation is being watched closely in consultation with all stakeholders and an appropriate decision indicating the effective date of resumption of scheduled commercial international passenger services shall be notified in due course”.
A few days ago, A review meeting on international travel was held by PMO. As per the statement by PMO of that meeting, “The PM also asked officials to review plans for easing international travel restrictions in light of the emerging new evidence,”
The Officials were also directed to continue doing genome sequencing of international travelers if they come out positive. The individual will be quarantined immediately in view of ‘Omicron’
As of now, The Air Bubble deal between nations will continue until the “omicron” variant cools down.
