New Delhi: PM Modi chaired a meeting over the Jawad Cyclone. Suppose to hit Andhra Pradesh soon. The cyclone is emerging into the Andaman Sea from Thailand’s Side. Thereafter, it moved west-northwest wards and concentrated into a depression over the southeast and adjoining the east-central Bay of Bengal by 2nd December. It is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm over the central parts of the Bay of Bengal on December 3.
In the meet, PM Modi was briefed by top officials on the possible cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal that could affect north Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coasts.
As per IMD, Jawad will reach Odisha coast on 4th December, the State government had already asked Collectors of 13 districts to prepare for the evacuation of the people and has prepared a blueprint for disaster management strategy by requisitioning NDRF, ODRAF, and fire department personnel for rescue and relief operation.
Along with this, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy also took a review of the situation ahead of the cyclone. He ordered officials to take necessary steps to mitigate its impact. He spoke to the Collectors of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, and Visakhapatnam districts over the phone and inquired about their preparedness to tackle the storm.
