The Railway Men: YRF Productions First Ott Series Is Dedicated To The Unsung Heroes Of The 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy

Yash Raj Films has announced its first big OTT project, The Railway Men, under its new digital banner YRF Entertainment.


New Delhi: On the 37th anniversary of Bhopal Gas Tragedy, the world’s worst modern disaster that took a large number of lives on December 2 in the year 1984. The series will be an honour to the railway workers of Bhopal station who lost their lives to this tragedy. Yash Raj Films has announced its first big OTT project, The Railway Men, under its new digital banner YRF Entertainment.

The film features R Madhavan, Kay Menon, Divyendu, and Babil Khan in the leading roles. The Railway Men is directed by debutant director Shiv Rawail, who has been trained by YRF chairman and MD Aditya Chopra.

Late at night of December 2 in the year 1984, methyl isocyanate gas leaked from a pesticide production factory which was owned by American Union Carbide Corporation. It has been reported that around 1,000,000 individuals were poisoned by the harmful gas that night and the loss of life exceeded 5,000 that had shook the nation.

Shiv will begin his proceedings at the YRF Entertainment with his one season limited content series. The organization will be likewise announcing the presence of a few other incredible actors in the series in the coming time. The Railway Men’s shooting began on December 1.

The Senior Vice President of Yash Raj Films, Akshaye Widhani expressed that, “The Bhopal Gas Tragedy is the world’s worst industrial disaster that has impacted scores of people since the tragedy struck the city 37 years ago. The Executive Producer at YRF Entertainment Yogendra Mogre further added, “The Railway Men is our salute to their spirit, their courage and their humanity. This is a story that needed to be told. We are not going to leave any stone unturned to ensure that this story reaches out to audiences, across the world, in the best possible way so that they can understand the depth of devastation that this tragedy has caused in India.”

YRF Entertainment’s The Railway Men will start streaming on December 2 in 2022.
