Delhi: 12 Omicron variant suspects admitted in LNJP hospital

Out of these four suspects, two individuals have arrived from the UK, one from the Netherlands and one from France.

New Delhi: Around 12 patients that are suspected to be infected by the new COVDI19 variant Omicron have been reportedly admitted to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) hospital in Delhi till now on Friday.

According to the sources, eight suspects of the Omicron variant were admitted yesterday in LNJP.

“Four suspects have been admitted today, out of which, two have been tested COVID19 positive while the test results for the other two are awaited,” sources cited.

Out of these four suspects, two individuals have arrived from the UK, one from the Netherlands and one from France.

The sample of all four patients will be sent today for genome sequencing.

Union Health Minister on Thursday stated that two cases of the concerning strain of Omicron were detected in Karnataka.

“Two people found positive for the Omicron variant of COVID19. One person is about 66-year-old and a South African national, who has gone back. Another person is a 46-year-old doctor. He does not have any travel history,” Dr K Sudhakar, Karnataka health minister stated.

 Omicron- “most heavily mutated version”- concerning World Health Organisation (WHO), found first in South Africa on November 25 has made several countries worried including the US, UK, Singapore, Germany, Canada, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and France which are imposing travel bans on several southern African countries.
