New Delhi: The State government on Thursday declared to shut all schools in the nation’s capital till further notice due to the rise in air pollution, as of the air quality Delhi’s AQI has remained hazardous.
Although online classes and board exams will be conducted as per the scheduled dates.
Gopal Rai, Delhi Environment Minister stated that all the physical classes and educational activities in Delhi will be suspended from Friday till further notice.
The decision followed after Supreme Court questioned Delhi government on Thursday for resuming the physical classes in schools during the increase in the air pollution level in the Union Territory.
“We had reopened schools considering the forecast that air quality would improve. However, the air pollution levels have increased again and we have decided to shut schools from Friday till further order,” Rai cited.
“All board exams will be conducted as per schedule,” Education Minister Manish Sisodia stated.
After being closed since November 13, physical classes in schools, educational institutions and colleges had resumed from Monday onwards.
