Jawad: Heavy rains in Coastal Orissa, 19 districts affected


New Delhi: As Cyclone Jawad intensified, Heavy showers and high-speed winds have started to lash across coastal areas in Odisha. Cyclone Jawad has moved along the coast. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rain is also predicted in parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal today.

The cyclone is expected to make landfall near Puri on Sunday. Whereas, it is likely to weaken gradually, and move nearly northwards during the next 12 hours and then north-north eastwards along Odisha coast reaching near Puri around 5th December. The Cyclone is termed as ‘Severe’.

Rajiv Gauba, the cabinet secretary said, “Central Govt. is looking closely at the situation. The Rainfall activity will increase today in districts like Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, and adjoining areas of Visakhapatnam. WB might also experience rain today & tomorrow. Andhra Pradesh will be clear & north Odisha might witness rain on Dec 5.”

At present, 19 districts are affected and it will lead to a drop in temperatures across India. In Delhi, The temperature may drop to 7-8 Degrees in the next 4-5 days.
