New Delhi: Vinod Dua, A legend of Hindi television journalism and Anchoring, with a wide range of interests from politics, food, and culture, passed away yesterday after being ‘critical’ at the age of 67. The Padma Shri awardee left his body at Apollo Hospital, Mumbai. Mr. Dua was hospitalized with Covid earlier this year along with his wife Padmavati ‘Chinna’ Dua who died on June 11. His health was unstable since then.
Dua’s death was announced by his younger daughter, Mallika Dua via her Instagram. Mallika wrote.” “He lived an inimitable life, rising from the refugee colonies of Delhi to the peak of journalistic excellence for over 42 years, always, always speaking truth to power.” His former colleagues and Followers stormed social media sites to pay him a tribute.
Prannay Roy of NDTV wrote, “Deeply mourning the loss of Vinod. He was not just one of the greatest, he was THE greatest of his time. I have always said that. ‘the greatest an amazing talent I admired and respected and from whom I learned a lot in the many years we worked closely together Rest in peace, my friend.’
However, No major leader from the Central government and BJP has paid tributes to Vinod Dua as he was a staunch opposer of the Central Government and its followers.
Vinod Dua was accused of sedition in 2020 by a BJP Leader for making remarks critical of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Indian Supreme Court dismissed the charges against Vinod in June as his health started to decay.
