Omicron toll rises, 1 case in Delhi, 7 in Maharashtra, 9 in Rajasthan

The cases of the new variant were four till Saturday, after Gujarat and Maharashtra reported a case each. Karnataka was the first city in India to get the first two cases of Omicron.

New Delhi: The nation’s total tally of the new Omicron variant of COVID 19 has increased to five times in just one day after nine people in Rajasthan tested positive. This includes a NRI family of four members from South Africa. Till now, seven people from Pune, Maharashtra and one from Delhi have also tested positive. The total tally in the country stands at 21.

The cases of the new variant were four till Saturday, after Gujarat and Maharashtra reported a case each. Karnataka was the first city in India to get the first two cases of Omicron.

As per Delhi, the first COVID patient of the Omicron variant is a 33-year-old man who came from Tanzania. The patient was fully vaccinated and is being treated in Lok Nayak Hospital.

Nine new cases were confirmed in Jaipur making health officials worried for the widespread of the virus in the city.
