New Delhi: An army Mi-17 helicopter has crashed in Kannur, Tamil Nadu. 13 Army officials along with CDS Bipin Rawat are also on board. The rescue operation has started after the helicopter crash. At present, it is not known whether the army helicopter crashed due to bad weather or due to some technical fault and if there are any causalities. 11 people have died.

As per initial reports, CDS Bipin Rawat along with some of his family members besides his employees named Madhulika Rawat, Brigadier LS Lidder, Lt Col Harjinder Singh, Gursewak Singh, Jitendra Kumar, Vivek Kumar, B Sai Teja, and Havildar Satpal was inside the helicopter during the crash.
The crash is confirmed by the official Twitter of the Indian Air Force. The account has tweeted, “An IAF Mi-17V5 helicopter, with CDS Gen Bipin Rawat on board, met with an accident today near Kannur, Tamil Nadu. An Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident.”
