Delhi AQI marginally improves but still remains in ‘poor’ category

The air quality of Delhi stood idle in the ‘very poor’ category for many days in the previous week.

New Delhi: Delhi’s air quality slightly improved on today’s morning as it slipped into the ‘poor’ category from ‘very poor’. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in the metropolitan city read 235 at around 7:40 AM. According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), the level of PM 2.5 and PM 10 in the air was in ‘poor’ and ‘moderate’ category at 7:40 AM.

The air quality of Delhi stood idle in the ‘very poor’ category for many days in the previous week.

AQI between 0 and 50 is considered as ‘good’, 51 to 100 is ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 is stated ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 is ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’ and 401 to 500 falls under ‘severe’ category.

The Air Quality Index in Noida and Gurugram was recorded at 235 and 286 respectively, both the cities fall under ‘poor’ AQI.
