New Delhi: Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has said that he has no plans to attend the Winter Olympics in Beijing. Fumio appears to have a softer tone than Western allies who have declared a diplomatic boycott.
A few days ago, US President Joe Biden announced a diplomatic boycott of the 2022 winter Olympics in China and the White House said no official delegation would be sent to the Games in order to criticize China on human rights records. The diplomatic boycott was also joined by Canada, Australia, and Britain. India has no plans to boycott as of now.
Japan is a close ally of the United States. The nation is concerned about what it sees as growing threats from China. From Economic to Regional Threats. As QUAD nations have started to do the same. India possibly will have a stance on the Boycott very soon.
