New Delhi: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari today reached Parliament in a green hydrogen-powered car. The name of this car is ‘Mirai’, i.e., the future.
The union minister said that the prices of petrol, diesel, and gas are constantly increasing. India imports petrol-diesel and there is also a lot of pollution from petrol-diesel.

Nitin Gadkari said, “To fulfill the Prime Minister’s dream of a self-reliant India, we have to be self-reliant in oil as well. This car will soon come to India, there will be a big revolution in the country. Imports will come down and our dream of a self-reliant India will definitely be realized.”

He further added, “To become ‘atmanirbhar’, we have introduced green hydrogen which is produced from water. This is a car pilot project. Now the manufacture of green hydrogen in the country will start, the imports will be curbed and new employment opportunities will be created.”

Union Minister Gadkari had on March 16 launched the Toyota Mirai, the world’s most advanced technology developed green hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV), in New Delhi. Union Ministers Hardeep Singh Puri, R K Singh, Mahendra Nath Pandey, Md of Toyota Kirloskar Motor Limited Masakaju Yoshimura, TKM Limited VC Vikram Kirloskar, and officials were also present on the occasion.

According to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, this is an important initiative that will promote clean energy and environmental protection by reducing dependence on fossil fuels and thus make India’s’ energy self-reliant’ by 2047.
